Rim Bunnag then made him act as a leading man alongside Suthisa Pattanuch in the drama Lakorn Re and changed his name to Manop Asavathep.

Manop Asawathep 's real name is Wiriya Chulamakorn, nickname Ya, born on October 16, 1934, graduated from the Naval Sergeant School in Sattahip. Served as a navy officer at the Supreme Command Headquarters and was the personal driver of Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn, receiving the rank of Sergeant Major.

Before entering the industry by chance in 1962 by meeting Sanan Kraprayoon, the owner of Nakorn Pink Film, at a barber shop using the name Navin Thepyothi in the entertainment industry, before having his first work on the silver screen in 1963, Nang Samingprai, opposite Mitr Chaibancha and Trungjai Walailak, later playing the role of a full-fledged leading man in 1964, Phichit Tachan, opposite Amara Asavanont, followed by Phet Nam Phueng (1965 ), Sud Phaendin (1967), Shed Blood Dan Singh (1969), opposite Sombat Metanee and Petchara Chaowarat. At that time, he was unable to fully accept acting because he was still serving as a navy officer.
