Hamas-Israel war: Latest major updates.

More than 1,300 Israelis and 1,530 Palestinians have been killed, thousands have been injured, and hundreds of thousands of others have been displaced since the latest fighting between Israel and Hamas began after the militant group's attack. Hamas is believed to be holding about 150 hostages in Gaza.

The latest: Many Palestinians living in northern Gaza were making their way to the southern part of the enclave after Israel said Thursday night they had 24 hours to evacuate — a message that could signal that Israel's military is preparing for a ground operation, per Axios' Barak Ravid

  • At least 45 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Thursday that hit a residential building in the Jabaliya refugee camp in Gaza, Palestinian health officials said.
  • Tensions were also escalating in the occupied West Bank on Friday.
  • Secretary of State Tony Blinken was in Jordan on Friday and met with King Abdullah II and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Abdullah and Abbas warned against any Israeli attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza and the occupied West Bank to neighboring countries.
  • Meanwhile, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin met with Israeli leaders in Israel on Friday and vowed that the Biden administration will make sure the country has everything it needs to defend itself.

The Israeli military's bombardment of Gaza continued Friday and sirens went off across parts of Israel Friday due to incoming rocket fire from Palestinian militants in the enclave.

  • Tensions also continued to escalate along the Israeli-Lebanese border.
